Skills Lockfile & Manifest
Learn how @pphatdev/registry manages skill reproducibility, version pinning, and workspace configuration.
The skills-lock.json Lockfile
When you install skills, the CLI generates a deterministic skills-lock.json lockfile in your project root. Similar to pnpm-lock.yaml or package-lock.json, it guarantees that every team member and CI pipeline runs identical skill contents.
Lockfile Schema
{
"version": 1,
"skills": {
"api-documentation": {
"source": "pphatdev/skills",
"sourceType": "github",
"skillPath": ".agent/skills/api-documentation/SKILL.md",
"computedHash": "80e34d5a9899f6250366da728bd51d14fd941a54233d27891781b97b19a0823d"
}
}
}
Deterministic Cryptographic Hashing
- The CLI uses recursive folder SHA-256 hashing (
computeSkillFolderHash) compatible with theskills.shstandard. - Files are canonicalized and sorted deterministically before hashing.
- Any unexpected local drift or upstream modification is immediately flagged.
Workspace Manifest (.skills.json)
Installed skills are tracked in a lightweight workspace manifest (.skills.json) that records:
- Origin sources (e.g. GitHub repositories or Git URLs)
- Target agent directory paths
- Configured coding assistant bindings
