AI Agent Skills Overview
Discover how to enhance your AI coding assistants with portable, modular capabilities using @pphatdev/registry (v1.5.1+).
What are AI Agent Skills?
An AI Agent Skill is an encapsulated folder of domain-specific instructions, workflows, and tool configurations that extend an AI coding assistant's capabilities.
Skills follow the open standard formalized by skills.sh and vercel-labs/skills, centered around a root SKILL.md file:
my-skill/
├── SKILL.md # Required: Instructions, triggers, and YAML frontmatter
├── scripts/ # Optional: Automated scripts and utilities
├── templates/ # Optional: Code templates or scaffolding assets
└── references/ # Optional: Additional API references and docs
When an agent loads a skill, it gains specialized procedural knowledge—such as generating compliant API endpoints, creating atomic component libraries, or auditing code for security vulnerabilities.
